Moon Box began as a fun way for five cousins and three sisters to connect with each other from a distance.  We wanted to send packages to each other every month, and we thought it would be fun to have a theme for each package.  We decided to base each month’s package on the moon.  We started in January 2020, with the wolf moon.  What a challenge it was to find and create items that relate to wolves!  And what an adventure it was to open each other’s packages on the evening of the full moon.  The contents of our packages were always surprises - there were snacks, poems, crafts, decorations, items from our gardens, and more.  We enjoyed these packages so much!  And we soon realized that not only were we connecting with each other, but we were also connecting to the moon and the subtle seasonal changes that each month brings.  

 

Opening our boxes became a ceremony and a day to look forward to - we’d spend time outdoors, admire the moon, smell the air, listen, look, and FEEL our presence on this earth, in this world, beneath this moon.  Then we’d drink teas that we sent each other, light candles, eat snacks, and read poems.  From the wolf moon, to the strawberry moon, and even the sturgeon moon - we always ended the night feeling inspired and renewed.  We hope that this is how you will feel when you receive your moon boxes and begin to join in the monthly celebrations.
